International Aerospace Exhibition Berlin-Schönefeld 1998

One of the highlights of the ILA 1998 in Berlin-Schönefeld was certainly the Antonov AN-70. At the time, the German Air Force was interested in the aircraft in order to expand its long-haul transport capacities. The ILA 1998 was also marked by the 50th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. For this reason, historic aircraft such as the Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress" bomber and the Douglas C-54 "Skymaster" transport aircraft were also on display. At that time, it was also a matter of course that aircraft of the German Armed Forces from all branches (Air Force, Army and Navy) were presented flying in large numbers.
